Biography of Laurent Nery

 

Laurent Nery is Head of Market Analysis for ENGIE’s Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management. This activity covers market analysis for all commodities managed by ENGIE (power, gas, carbon and green certificates), across shortterm markets (intraday and dayahead), midterm horizons (1 to 5 years), and longterm outlooks (up to 25 years), for all geographies where ENGIE operates, including Europe, the US, South America, Asia and Australia. The department also provides regulatory analysis on market design and brings together more than 100 experts, primarily located between Paris and Brussels.

 

He joined Gaz de France in 2006 as a Research Engineer in the Economic Studies division, marking the start of a career dedicated to energy markets and strategic analysis. He subsequently worked within the corporate strategy division of GDF Suez before joining the trading arm of the company in 2013 as Senior Gas Market Analyst.

 

From 2017 to 2020, he managed the oil and gas market analysis team, before coleading a wider organization of market analysis between 2020 and 2025, gathering economic research for clients, short and midterm market analysis on gas and power for energy management, regulatory advisory on European gas and power market design, as well as economic support to longterm gas contract activities. Since July 2025, Laurent has led the newly created Expertise Center Market Analysis.

 

Laurent has a double technical and economic background, holding a Mechanical Engineering degree from ENSEM (2005) and a degree in Economics & Business Management from IFP School (EGE, Class of 2005).
