IFP School is launching a new free online course dedicated to hydrogen transport and storage, two essential links in the development of the hydrogen sector.

Available from March 2 to April 27, 2026, this MOOC represents 4 to 6 hours of learning and provides a clear and structured overview of the key technologies and challenges involved in hydrogen logistics.

This MOOC is aimed at master's level students (4 or 5 years of higher education), professionals in the energy sector, and anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of hydrogen.

Developed in collaboration with Lab e·nov™, this MOOC was coordinated by Laetitia Salessy, Director of the Energy and Chemistry Processes and Georesources and Energy Centers at IFP School, Marie-Hélène Klopffer, Supervisor of the Advanced Master's Hydrogen Project and Engineering, and Nicolas Ferrando, Research Engineer at IFPEN, with contributions from numerous IFPEN researchers. This ensures rigorous content that is directly relevant to current industrial challenges.

This training course offers a six-part program featuring video clips in English with French subtitles.

Throughout the course, you will explore the hydrogen industry in the context of the energy transition, storage technologies (compression, liquefaction, pipelines, tanks, materials) and transport solutions (pipelines, logistics), costs, safety issues, environmental impacts, and regulatory requirements for hydrogen infrastructure.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe and compare the main hydrogen transport and storage technologies, including their physical principles, technical constraints, and industrial applications.

  • Assess the safety, material compatibility, and regulatory requirements for hydrogen infrastructure.

  • Analyze the economic and environmental impacts of hydrogen logistics, including life cycle analysis and carbon taxation.

A certificate of completion will be issued to learners who successfully complete the course.
